This apartment building map was constructed using Valve Software’s Half-Life 2 engine and was intended to be used as the set for a machinima show produced by The AV Club Productions, inc.
For this project I researched common apartment complex architecture throughout the Los Angeles area and constructed the entire building to scale. I created hundreds of custom textures for this project, including some with complex normal maps, specular passes, and animations. Some of the more notable features of this map are scripted birds flying around the exterior of the building, scripted traffic on the streets, physics enabled swinging lights (with generated wind) in the parking garage, multiple television channels with scripted content, animated aircraft in the sky, and a fully functional 3 floor elevator.
If you look closely, you may even find a few hidden easter eggs.
